Asian grocery stores and supermarkets stock ingredients, snacks and household goods that general American supermarkets often do not carry, organized by category rather than by country of origin in most stores. Produce and live or fresh seafood sections are usually at the back or side of the store, and weekend mornings bring the largest crowds and freshest restock. Many larger Asian supermarkets include a hot deli or food court counter selling prepared meals by the pound or as fixed plates, useful for a quick lunch while shopping. Labels are frequently bilingual or untranslated, so store staff can usually help locate a specific ingredient if you ask. Cash, cards and mobile pay are all commonly accepted at larger chains; smaller specialty shops may be cash-preferred.
Hours are published for 7 days a week. Typical hours are 8 amβ10 pm. Hours in the United States do change around federal holidays and long weekends, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. Palo Alto is in California, on the West Coast, where the climate ranges from foggy coast to hot inland valleys, wildfire season can affect air quality in late summer, and traffic is the main thing to plan around. Getting around Palo Alto is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across California's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

Great Whole Foods, good selection, smaller than the other Whole Foods in other parts of the peninsula, but I like this one because the parking is decent, with street parking as well as a small lot across the street. The staff is always very nice. I'm able to always find what I need. It's clean, and also there's good sampling in this Whole Foods.

Inattentive workers who laugh at customers. Been going to this store since it opened about 35 yrs ago. I agree with comments about indifferent workers and poor food safety; and I'm not one who gets neurotic about that type of thing. There are a couple of long-term employees who have always been great - newer ones are awful. Went there on a Thursday about 2pm. Stood at the pastry counter for over 2 min- one person working in bakery area looked right at me, then turned her back to me and kept bagging bread off at a cart. 4 others were standing near the front door sharing a piece of fruit that one was handing out - yep break time right in front of shoppers. So much for food handling safety. I asked one of these "workers" if I could get some help in the bakery - he told me to ask somebody else. I asked why? Then he went over to the bakery lady, said something, then both of them looked at me and laughed. Told all this to the guy at "customer service", his response was to tell me that the person in the bakery probably didn't know I wanted something and I should have moved so she could see me. Uh...........that's what I did. Still did not offer any help to actually get what I

Tiny shop, narrow aisles and very frustrating to shop there. Not much of a choice in food, either, poor quality potatoes, garlic and onions. Sad... Supposedly high end, upscale shop. Small villages in Europe are a luxury in comparison. No fresh bakery, either, breads are rubbery and stale, stored on shelves right next to entrance barely an inch from the floor. The person behind the butcher counter was openly eating something they had on a plate while serving. No actual bacon ever, except a poor man cut from the pig's belly which is just fat. Vegetarian fed chickens, which is crazy. How on earth people pay money to eat these poisons, I never know. Where is an actual food? Chocolate and so called ice cream disgusting. Crisps stale. Bleached eggs kept in fridges. I suppose the only reasonable product was the imported beer. Temperature indicators off

There is a good selection of veggie burgers. I bought cranberry walnut bread because I know it's vegan. Also got hummus and 1 fig. Got sage kombucha on sale and it was good. Forbes magazine also featuring the richest women in the world. 06.26.25
